Hybrid Workforce

If WebEx is VidComm and Ma Bell is TelComm, then what will we call a meeting in a Virtual Reality headset? XRComm?

There has been a lot in the press lately about The Metaverse. Readers of SindyXR's Views know about XR, but they wonder, "is that equivalent to The MetaVRse?" The short answer is no, it's not, but I do think it may need to get added to your thesaurus that a synonym for extended reality can be "Hybrid."

Extended Reality and Metaverse are not mainstream terms yet. XR Businesses like Sindy struggle to explain the value proposition for your business, but we found common ground. The common perception seems to be that hybrid is now a necessity.

XR is a critical aspect of building your 2022 Hybrid Workforce. How should you buy it? What will your address be in The Metaverse? What will your domain name be?

Let Sindy help you decide.

At SindyXR we have spent the latter half of this crazy 2021 year talking to medical providers. That forced us to confront the lack of inroads Augmented and Virtual Reality(s) have made in the last ten years.

The old school medical business model required patients to wait in their offices and sometimes made you sit uncomfortably close to sick patients. Pre-COVID, clinicians had no reason to disrupt this standard procedure, but then everything changed. Medical offices should know that it's not too late to provide AR/VR options for their clients. As a matter of fact, now is the best time to add this option so providers can increase early client retention and keep people safe while adding measurable health outcomes to their patient care.

One-touch telemedicine is all the rage. Remote Patient Monitoring is growing at a staggering rate, and the train has left the station. But TelComm is a nearly 45-year-old technology, and we know that businesses creep unless they are forced to jump.

COVID-19 + The Information Age = Web3.0 encompassing the massive business opportunities in Blockchain, NFTs, Crypto and The Metaverse.

Thanks to the democratization of the web, all voices being amplified by social media, and GenZ siding strongly with Mother Nature, “regular” non-corporate people have a more substantial influence than ever before. Our ability to affect change with positivity has shifted responsibility from business owners to the masses. We see indications of this seismic shift in Kellogg’s factories, Warrior Met Coal’s picket lines and John Deere’s pocketbooks. Google #striketober for dozens of examples within the USA Capitalist System. This Movement forced our CEO, Charles Kirby, to feel a sense of personal responsibility too.

“I LOVE STORYTELLING, AND I SEE VISIONS, BUT THEY ARE NOT PARTICULARLY ABOUT THE FUTURE; SOMETIMES, THEY CLARIFY THE PAST.

A few years ago, I began feeling that every confining conference room, classroom, and courtroom I was meeting in was crushing all of us within the walls. I knew I wasn't the only one who felt that way. When we wanted a break, coffee was there for those who stayed near the table, and fresh air was available for those who wandered outside. Ready Player Me + Digital Twins + Mesh = The Metaverse, and though I never read Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash, I felt trapped by the walls of physical reality and saw the multiple reality option as a way out metaphorically (pun intended).

I am not a sci-fi junkie, but as a converted Jew and career freelancer, I am not attached to a strict interpretation of the calendar. My best work is done when a weekday and a weekend are indistinguishable, and I can examine the task at the top of my priorities and then match it with the best work environment.”

Every day since the lockdown, employees, shoppers and patients were forced to weigh the Risk : Reward Spectrum every time they considered going to their workplace, inside a store and even stressed about going to the doctors. So Zoom and VR Spaces popped up and gobs of money was raised by companies like Sindy from Venture Capitalists betting on this hybrid life. Now that the benefits of human interaction are treasured even more, how do you decide who to get close in real life (Fhysical Reality)?

The overwhelming detail we are asking is, “how important is it to ACTUALLY GET TOGETHER???” After your safety, health and wellness…

…the new Hybrid variables can include but are not limited to:

My TIME vs. BEING “ON THE CLOCK”

Will there be traffic/parking?

If they keep me waiting will I get home in time to pick up the kids?

Do I get paid hourly or is this covered by health insurance?

(Virtual Reality appointments are accepted as “Face-to-Face” appointments by some large health insurance firms as of January 1, 2022)

ALONE : ColLAB

Is Brainstorming involved?

(studies are showing that Zoom communications are significantly more structured and therefore discouraging “water cooler moments”)

Are my collaborators boosted?

(There is significant evidence that humans in certain geographic areas are more likely to wear masks and believe in vaccinations)

Does the doctor REALLY NEED to touch me or is it just a chat?

(Sindy’s mobile app now connects data from Blood Pressure, Body Mass and Scales at home made by major manufacturers such as Withings and ReadOut Health!)

LIGHT : DARK

What Time Zone is the Facilitator in?

Is the sun up out my windows yet?

Do your circadian rhythms align with the humans on the call?

COLD : HOT

What temp is the office?

Will that guy who opens the windows be there?

And the fact is, we like it at home, but is it the best thing for our work/health? Every day, people will afford themselves these choices and as with supply chain problems, our business are facing retention of talent issues and we all need people to grow.

The power has shifted, the individuals have the power now.

They can choose where to live, how far to commute and they can choose their health care from anywhere around the world. They don’t have to spend an uncomfortable amount of time in a public waiting room or benefit from the growing upside of connecting from home. What are the pros and cons? How are these decisions made, and who makes the decision? Safety is the primary concern, but as we work together to beat this virus, healthcare providers should look to artificial intelligence to know what a patient needs.

Providers should add AI into their RPM dashboard and use it as a tool that will keep patients engaged. The additional metric will help providers make crucial decisions for the patients' mental and physical health. When patients schedule their appointment, the provider can identify the stated goal and help assess the best "form" of the MeetUp.

With all the hybrid buzz,

you have an opportunity to re-train your managers

to participate in XR comm opportunities.

The power has shifted to the patient to select their definition of when to flex-to-home or to go into the waiting room. What are the pros and cons? How do you make this decision? And who makes the decision? Safety must be the primary concern but as we beat this virus, sustained mental and physical healthcare should have the facility to use Artificial Intelligence to know what a patient needs. The provider should add into their RPM dashboard another metric to keep the patient engaged.

When the appointment is scheduled, the provider can identify the Stated Goal and help assess the best “form” of the MeetUp. We have two forms of well-heeled communications in TeleComm and VidComm. The stress added by each of these forms is deeply understood now. For 2022, let’s offer a third option in XRComm. Co-Presence as some are calling AR/VR.

FOR 2022, LET'S OFFER A THIRD OPTION IN XR-COMM.

At SindyXR the artificial intelligence we are building is often attempting to translate a mountain of data. Descriptive analytics can lead to prescriptions for how patients can succeed in their weight loss journey in the future. As I wrote about recently in Scan Yo Self!, scanning the current world is one-third of the necessary components needed to build The Metaverse.

Virtual reality is an immersive and 100% digital environment, while physical reality is 100% immersive but unaided by any digital enhancement. Augmented reality overlaps these two immersive environments and is the future of professional and personal engagements.

In an instant, we increased most of our interactions to video comms. The transition led to a hybrid workplace where each human gets to choose! This adaptation and progressive choice opened the bridge for the subsequent digital and immersive interactions. We can go back to using body language and soft cues in conversation, all from the safety and convenience of our home.

SindyXR often resonates with customers craving to become "The Clinic of the Future," but we emphasize that understanding the past is essential to the success of the human form in the future. Body image and internal monologues are human nature. However, we can liberate this universal human condition by functioning freely as an avatar, but how can we effectively make this transition?

At SindyXR the artificial intelligence we are building is often attempting to translate a mountain of data. Descriptive analytics can lead to prescriptions for how patients can succeed in their weight loss journey in the future. As I wrote about recently in Scan Yo Self!, the scanning of the current world is a third of the necessary components to build The Metaverse. Virtual Reality is immersive 100% digital and Physical Reality is 100% immersed without any digital enhancement and Augmented Reality is the over lapping of the two.

SindyXR often resonates with customers craving the clinic of the future but we want to emphasize the past’s importance to the success of the human form in the future. Body image and internal monologues are human nature and for all that we can liberate functioning as an avatar, think about what dynamics do you need when.

VR and XR allow people to present their true selves to others in personalized and customized ways. Customized hardware and other personalized conditions can make interactions more impactful, comfortable, and safer for individuals who otherwise have difficulty connecting in physical reality.

Back when we attended repeated meetings in-person around a conference table, we had clues to contextualize the humans around us and how they would vote. Then that was all taken away from us. No more body language or soft cues. So now imagine a situation where you can select, in real time, which hardware matches with the best dynamic? If this is critical then VR adds serious value. Then you have to address the timing of these dynamics. What can you bring and when do you bring it? What to offer and which Team needs it?

My favorite example is from our Human Resources team who site the precipitous drop in sexual harassment cases during the Covid19 lockdown. Corporations have been struggling for decades to remove sexuality from the workplace. In an instant, we increased the majority of our interactions to video comms. This led to a hybrid workplace where each human gets to choose!

And you learned what you missed and what you didn’t. Add all that into your list and share it with your team, your spouse, your friends and lets see what next year brings. Technology can be your friend, harness it.

Wishing you and your business prosper in this new year of the Tiger! And your families are safe and sane.

Sincerely,

Sindy.
